Every official public source Blueprint reads, by country and city.

Blueprint is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency or entity. Grades and scores are Blueprint's own calculation from public records, not an official government rating. The sources below are the official, public open-data services Blueprint reads directly on your device.

Blueprint reads only free, public records published by official government bodies. This page lists the source behind every market the app covers. Records can be incomplete or delayed at the source, and coverage varies by city, so a grade is a starting point for your own research, not the final word. Always verify in person.

United States: national area and hazard layer

Applied to any US address as area context, not part of a building's A to F grade.

The report also shows a state-average residential electricity and natural gas price (and an estimated monthly bill), read directly from the official API by our server, so the app and website never hold the API key:

United States: state hazard and contamination layers

Applied only to an address in the matching state, as area context alongside the national hazard layer above, not part of a building's A to F grade. Never requests or shows an owner or responsible-party name.

United States: national building records

Applied only when a specific HUD-assisted/insured, LIHTC, or historic-register record matches or is near the address. Never attributed to a building unless it is a close match.

United States: statewide property records

In the 8 states whose statewide parcel/assessor layer publishes building attributes, matched by point-in-parcel only (the parcel actually containing the geocoded point). Never requests or shows an owner name or mailing address.

United States: lead service line inventories

Where a water utility publishes a keyless, per-address lead service line inventory, Blueprint reads it directly, for any US address in that utility's service area, not just the cities graded above.

United States: building energy benchmarking (additional cities)

Beyond the building-energy benchmarking already folded into the city portals above (Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Washington DC), Blueprint also reads these cities' own benchmarking datasets directly:

United States: building status flags

Registered-vacant, condemned, rental-license and certificate-of-occupancy records, read directly from each city's own registry. Never includes an owner or applicant's name, address, phone or email, even where the source dataset carries them.

United States: municipal record (permits, zoning, historic, property tax)

Building permits with status, certificates of occupancy, liens/rental registration, zoning, local historic districts and property tax delinquency, read directly from each city's own open-data endpoint. Never includes an owner, landlord, applicant or contractor's name, even where the source dataset carries one. A heads-up from city open data, not a title search, lien search or inspection, and never part of the A-F grade.

United States: building safety programs

Verified, per-building safety compliance records - mandatory seismic retrofit programs, unreinforced-masonry vulnerability ratings, elevator/boiler/facade inspections, and chronic-conditions and demolition/asbestos notifications - read directly from each city's own registry. Never includes an owner, applicant, defendant or inspecting engineer's name, even where the source dataset carries one. Not part of the A-F grade.

In Toronto, the report also shows the City's own per-building RentSafeTO apartment evaluation score (year built, units and evaluation date), matched to the nearest registered building:

In Montreal, the report also shows preventive habitability inspection component scores and, where one is on file, a formal deterioration notice - never the owner's name:

United Kingdom

The report also shows the recorded freehold/leasehold tenure on sold prices, the HM Land Registry House Price Index for the local authority district, and several more planning.data.gov.uk point checks, all keyless:

Where a council publishes a keyless planning-application layer, Blueprint reads that council's own service directly for a street-level permit view:

In Camden, the report also counts licensed HMOs (Houses in Multiple Occupation) within 100 m, from the council's own mandatory licensing register - never the licence holder's name:

The report also shows ground, water, noise and mining layers: in England, river/sea and surface water flood risk bands, reservoir flood extents and coastal erosion projections from the Environment Agency, and road/rail noise bands from Defra's strategic noise maps; in Wales, the flood zone from Natural Resources Wales; in Scotland, the flood extent and an indicative area score from SEPA; and, across Great Britain, coal mining high-risk areas and a radon hazard class from the British Geological Survey, plus two official deep links built from the postcode:

For England and Wales, the report also shows the home's own Energy Performance Certificate (band, score, and a few recommended improvements) read directly from the official register by our server, so the app and website never hold the API key:

Contains address data processed against Ordnance Survey AddressBase Premium and Royal Mail PAF. (c) Crown copyright and database rights / Royal Mail Group Ltd. Address data used under MHCLG's permitted energy-efficiency purposes. Non-address data is under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

In Greater London, the report also shows the nearest Tube, rail and bus stops (name, mode, distance and lift access where published), read directly from the official API by our server, so the app and website never hold the app key:

Powered by TfL Open Data. Contains OS data (c) Crown copyright and database rights 2016, and Geomni UK Map data (c) and database rights 2019.

Further checks: UK reports link to Ofcom's own broadband coverage checker so you can look up predicted speeds for the address yourself. We do not call Ofcom's API or show any figures from it here, so this is not one of our data sources above, just a link to theirs.
